Deutsche Forumpartei (DFP)

The Deutsche Forumpartei (DFP - German Forum Party) was founded on 27/1/1990 in Karl-Marx-Stadt (today Chemnitz). The call for foundation had already been published as early as 13/12/1989. The party evolved from the citizens' movement Neues Forum ( New Forum). The first chairman was the patents engineer Jürgen Schmieder from Karl-Marx-Stadt. The party saw itself as a "people's party of the political centre".
The DFP did not follow the invitation to join the Christian-orientated Allianz für Deutschland ( Alliance for Germany), but instead became a member of the BFD.
