Allianz für Deutschland (Alliance for Germany)
Election campaign alliance of the CDU (East), Deutsche Soziale Union (DSU) and Demokratischer Aufbruch (DA). The alliance was founded on 5/2/1990 in the presence of the Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl in West Berlin. Originally the Deutsche Forumpartei (DFP) was also invited to form part of the alliance, an invitation it however refused. In the elections of the People's Chamber on 18/3/1990, the Alliance got the majority of the votes and therefore fielded the Minister-President. Lothar de Maizière of the CDU (East) held this office until the reunification.
